We are pleased to offer an online appointment (telehealth) option for times when it is not possible for you to make an in-person visit, whatever the reason. This interactive service is delivered via a telecommunication network and the internet. You can still have access to the same high-quality expertise as if you came into the clinic as long as you are within BC at the time of your session. Please see the frequently asked questions below for more details.
Which network tool is Empower Physiotherapy using?
We are using a new feature on Jane App, our current, user-friendly software booking system so no new app download will be required. All you need is to make sure that you have created a login to your account with us.
Will my personal information be protected and secure?
All personal information that you ever provide Empower Physiotherapy is confidential. Jane’s telehealth feature is HIPAA compliant and each online appointment is encrypted, anonymous, and never recorded or stored.
What are the benefits of telerehabilitation?
The main benefit is to be able to access physiotherapy services remotely. Telerehabilitation is particularly helpful when you require an expert opinion for acute injury management. It may save you from a trip to your doctor or emergency. It’s also helpful to review your current treatment plan, to modify a program that you are having issues with or to progress exercises as you continue to improve.
Will it be the same quality of care I would get in person?
Yes! You will receive the same expert opinion and guidance from your physiotherapist as you would in person. Physiotherapists are required to meet the same Standards of Practice regardless of where and how physiotherapy services are delivered.
What kind of treatment is provided?
Treatment may include, but is not limited to, education, exercise prescription, monitoring of progress, or supervised exercise. Hands-on treatment by your physiotherapist is not possible during a telerehabilitation session but in-person sessions can be arranged if appropriate.
Will it be covered?
Currently the following insurers will cover telehealth appointments for physiotherapy: Manulife, Medavie Blue Cross-RCMP, Pacific Blue Cross, Sunlife, ICBC and WorksafeBC. Please check with your individual provider if they are not on this list.
